When we first built the Groups feature in the ADDA Resident Portal, platforms like WhatsApp and other real-time messaging apps didn’t exist or weren’t widely used.
To facilitate private and secure communication within the community, whether for Management Committee discussions or interest-based groups, we built this feature within the ADDA platform. It addressed a specific need at that time, but as communication habits have evolved, this feature’s relevance has gradually declined.
Today, most small group community conversations — like Management Committee groups, hobby groups, and block-level discussions have shifted to platforms like WhatsApp. These channels have become the preferred way to share updates and stay connected within smaller circles. Meanwhile, larger-scale community-wide discussions and official forums continue to be best served within ADDA.
With this shift, our data also shows a significant decline in the usage of the built-in ‘Groups’ feature. Residents now prefer quicker, more accessible tools for everyday communication.
Group chats for block updates, yoga sessions, or pet-parent conversations have all naturally moved to WhatsApp.
Moving Ahead with a Modern Solution:
As the usage of the Groups feature has steadily declined, we will be officially removing it from the ADDA Resident Portal effective June 10, 2025. This decision comes as part of our continued efforts to align with how communities prefer to communicate today.
Community conversations have evolved — they are now faster, more real-time, and mobile-first. And ADDA is evolving too.
With this we’re introducing a modern alternative: Community WhatsApp Groups, that allows you to easily discover all your community’s social media groups, right from within the app. Whether it’s your block group, a yoga club, or a pet parents circle, everything is just a tap away.

How to use Community WhatsApp Groups:
Step 1: Scroll Down to “Community Whatsapp Group” section on ADDA App Home Page
Step 2: Add the group links or view groups that are already added.
Step 3: Fill in the necessary details and tap “Add”.

What Happens to Existing Groups?
As we are saying goodbye to the existing Groups feature in the Resident Portal, we’ve made it easy for you to preserve your important conversations and data.
🔹 Export Chat History
All group members can download past conversations in PDF format for future reference.
🔹 Download Poll Results
If you created polls in a group, you can export the poll results in Excel format. available below the respective poll.
🔹 Save Attachments Separately
Any files shared in the group will need to be downloaded individually, as they will not be included in the chat export.
How to Export Group Data
Here’s a quick guide:
Select the group you want to export the conversation in ADDA Resident Portal.
Click on the three dots and select Export Group option to download the conversation as a PDF.
For polls, scroll to the relevant poll and download the poll results in Excel format.
