Rentec Direct’s quarterly product development update outlines the property management software’s new features for 2025, including new tools for online rent payments, property management accounting, and property management website hosting. 

It’s that time of year again; tenants are on the move, new laws are going into effect, and don’t forget the pesky seasonal maintenance, or should we say, just another day in property management. Your Rentec Direct Development Team would like to share the recent progress of your software, all tailored to streamline your daily tasks. Take a look at what updates were made in Q2 of 2025.

Rentec Direct’s team of experts understands and dedicates themselves to making each landlord, property manager, and real estate investor’s tasks simpler, quicker, and more efficient by finding new ways to automate and streamline your day-to-day tasks and provide you with the tools to maintain compliance.

Each quarter, we look forward to sharing time-saving features and enhancements with the Rentec Direct Development Team. So let’s take a look at all the helpful updates that arrived this quarter, and get a sneak peek at some of the upcoming Features and Enhancements your Rentec Direct development team is currently working on.

Internally, our team categorizes updates in several ways: minor updates are referred to as fixes, QuickFixes, HotFixes, or issue reports, while more substantial updates are called Features or Enhancements. Although we don’t report every fix or update to you, please rest assured that our success and development teams collaborate closely to assess which updates may improve your workflow and save you time.

In case you missed anything, here’s a recap of what the Rentec Direct Development Team released in the second quarter of 2025.

Enhancement 3952 – Warn when an unrecognized US state is provided for an owner or vendor. 

Enhancement 3873 – Allow renumber and reset of work order numbers

Enhancement 3947 – Add text filter to Bank Reconciliation transactions

Enhancement 3954 – Remove archived categories from reports and data entry options

Enhancement 3919 – Allow for custom portal message templates: New Feature | Customize Your Tenant Portal and Owner Portal Welcome Message

Enhancement 3945 – Include transactions from archived subunits in the archived multiplex ledgers

Enhancement: 3992 – Use consistent terminology for check-number fields on Account Ledger B report and property Post Expense transaction

Enhancement 4001 –  Added a stronger and more verbose warning not to post tenant income via the property to save data entry errors

Enhancement 4006 – Add “Show owner contact info” option to Work Order reports

Enhancement 4010 – Remove obsolete hunt.com option from syndication options – hunt.com no longer publishes rental listings

Enhancement 3994 – Add “Archived” stamp to archived properties in the Property Service Dates report

Enhancement 3986 – Add an “All Accounts” option to the Bank Account dropdown in the Category Ledger report

Enhancement 3971 – Add portrait and landscape printing options to all reports

Enhancement 3937 – Add Bi-Weekly options for Online tenant payments: Feature Enhancement | New Bi-Weekly Option for Online Rent Payments

Enhancement 3984 – Enable the option “Priority None” when editing work orders 

Enhancement 3690 – Add File Library support for tenant leads 

Enhancement 3943 – Improve how contact information and other “description lists” are rendered in report CSV files 

Enhancement 3981 – Remodel the tenant statement and invoice dialogs accessible through the tenant context menu 

Enhancement 3973 – Remodel Import Tenant Charges utility and add category selector 

Enhancement 4043 – Add option to redirect website visitors from custom websites to custom domains 

Enhancement 3985 – Auto-populate the Search City field in Marketing Info from the address in Edit Property 

Enhancement 4008 – When converting an applicant to a tenant, store their phone number in the Mobile Phone field instead of the Home Phone field 

Enhancement 4013 – Add Duplex option to Property Type dropdown in Edit Property

Enhancement 4011 – Add “Share with Tenant” and “Share with Owner” options to invoice attachments 

Enhancement 3968 – Support for split journal entries: Feature Enhancement | Split Journal Entries

Enhancement 3934 – Move advanced reporting options from advanced settings to the report selector.

Enhancement 4052 – Changed name of Mailing Wizard to Mailing Manager 

Enhancement 3975 – Graduate Mailing Wizard from Rentec Labs: Certified Mailing Manager Available for all Rentec Direct Accounts

Enhancement 4036 – Speed up properties and tenants’ page load time with custom fields 

New Feature – Full-Service Custom Domain Hosting

Issue 3944 – Include transactions from archived subunits in the balance of an archived multiplex

Issue 3961 – Identify incoming SMS for tenant leads

Issue 3948 – Include credit card errors in renters’ Online Payments-errors dialog 

Issue 3938 – Improve consistency of address placement in All Statements report 

Issue 3963 – Save uploaded images to a free website draft using Save Draft 

Issue 3995 – Prevent ledger actions for archived bank accounts and read-only users

Issue 3997 – Correct CSV output in Rent Roll reports when a property has three or more separate tenants 

Issue 3993 – Ensure only one “Income” table header on Operating Statement A

Bug Fix 3910 – Disallow subunit reactivation if multiplex is archived 

Bug Fix 3926 – Allow preview of attachment on the property profile 

Issue 3970 – In Rent Roll reports, show the actual rent charged for the given Report Date; for future months, show the scheduled rent-payment amount. 

Bug Fix 4014 – Include bi-weekly payments with a future start date in the upcoming payments bi-weekly report, also fix date sorting. 

Issue 4030 – Restore missing print and PDF-specific report styles 

Bug Fix 3962 – Restrict changes unless the subuser has access to the original & destination IDs.

Issue 4051 – Allow new users to edit and publish their free website

New Split Journal Entries

The New Split Journal Entry option added to Rentec Direct’s full property accounting software ensures you have all the tools you need to ensure accurate financial records and simplify reconciliation. Key benefits of Split Journal Entry include:

Effortless Entry: Easily enter journal entries into asset, liability, and equity accounts that impact multiple components 

Accurate Records: Debit and credit entries are recorded simultaneously to ensure accuracy and compliance with double-entry accounting standards

Simplified Editing: Each component is treated like its own journal entry on the ledger but grouped together for editing purposes.

Streamlined Record-Keeping: Manage multiple related entries as a single group for a simpler workflow.

Enhanced Reports: Ledgers and reports will display transactions that are part of a Journal Entry
