Get ready to deck the halls with these cute gingerbread Christmas kitchen decor ideas!  Follow these simple tips to add some gingerbread decor to your own home.

Hello and welcome! It’s hard to believe that it’s already December, but I’m excited to finally start sharing some seasonal ideas with you! I’ve gotten a much later start on the Christmas decorating this year and have been trying to find little pockets of time to add some cozy seasonal touches throughout our home.

Holiday Housewalk

Today, I’m so happy to be joining Jennifer Rizzo again for her annual Holiday Housewalk. I look forward to this Christmas home tour every year and hope that you enjoy all of the beautiful Christmas decor ideas and inspiration as much as I do. If you’re coming over from City Farmhouse, thank-you for stopping by! I have been a huge fan of Jen’s for many years now and love her style and design tips.  I know you will be inspired by her beautiful east coast home and Christmas decor.

Gingerbread Inspired Christmas Kitchen Decor

Today, I’m going to be sharing our gingerbread inspired Christmas kitchen decor with you. When it comes to Christmas decor, you can’t really go wrong with a classic gingerbread theme. I think it adds that festive, whimsical touch to any room in your home!

Gingerbread decor seems to have become extra popular over the past couple of years, so there are lots of options to purchase in stores. You can also make your own homemade gingerbread or DIY some gingerbread crafts. Check out our felt gingerbread garland HERE and our faux gingerbread cinnamon ornaments HERE.

If you’re looking for some simple ways to add some gingerbread decor to your own kitchen, here are some easy ideas for you…

Style a tray.

Using a tray as a base for your holiday decor allows you to keep everything corralled together and creates a less cluttered look. It’s also a lot easier for cleaning! I always start our kitchen decor with this corner tray and have lots of fun coming up with different ways to style it. You can find all of my tips for styling a wood tray HERE.

For this gingerbread tray, I used a lighted gingerbread house (purchased at Canadian Tire) and a little gingerbread candy dish from Target. The gingerbread man hanging from the tree is actually a chip bag clip that I found at Walmart. I thought that were so cute! Finally, I added some coordinating ribbon, a faux gingerbread snowflake, and some greenery to the back for an extra pop of color.

Dress up the kitchen sink.

I love switching up our hand and dish soaps for the different seasons. Washing dishes is definitely not my favorite activity but having a cute sink display makes it a little more enjoyable. I found these adorable gingerbread soap dispensers at HomeGoods and added some Mrs. Myers gingerbread dish soap and hand soap to them. I placed them on a cake stand with a scrub brush and sprig of greenery for a pretty Christmas touch.

I also added a little tree with some DIY faux gingerbread cinnamon ornaments to tie the display all together.

Mix in Decorative with Functional

Finding functional decor for the kitchen is a practical way to add some seasonal touches.  I always like to add some Christmas decor to our utensil tray and switch this up every season. I’ve had this gingerbread man cutting board and rolling pin for a few years (both from HomeSense) and added these gingerbread salt and pepper shakers this year.

Display some gingerbread artwork.

I always create some kind of seasonal printable for our kitchen so, of course, I had to make some gingerbread artwork this year. You can find all of the free printable gingerbread designs HERE. I’m currently torn between displaying one of the  gingerbread men prints or the gingerbread village. What do you think?

Decorate a bowl.

One of the simplest ways to add a little Christmas decor, is to fill a bowl with some faux greenery and ornaments. It’s easy to customize to any color scheme or holiday theme. For our kitchen this year, I added more of the gingerbread snowflakes to the bowl.

Add a cookie jar.

I purchased this gingerbread house cookie jar last year and it was the starting point for our gingerbread inspired dining room last Christmas. Not only is this cookie jar super cute, it also works as extra storage when not being used for cookies.  I’ve used cookie jars to store seasonal cookie cutters/baking supplies, kitchen linens, and other treats in the past. They’re perfect for keeping things handy but out of sight!

I kind of turned this into a little hot chocolate bar and added our white Santa mugs, some gingerbread men napkins and my DIY felt gingerbread house coasters.  The cookie jar currently holds hot chocolate packets, a bag of marshmallows, and a jar of crushed peppermint. 😉

Glow it up.

Lastly, you need a little glow! I love adding twinkle lights at any time of year, butI think they’re even more magical at Christmas. The glow of the lights perfectly compliments the gingerbread colors.

Candles are another easy way to add some glow – along with a nice scent! I have been searching for a gingerbread scented candle that I like but ended up going with a good pine scent instead.

Thank-you all for joining in the tour today! I always love sharing our home with you and hope that you find a little Christmas decor inspiration that you can use in your home.

I’m technically the last home on the tour, but please head over to Jennifer Rizzo to start from the beginning. She always has the most unique and creative craft and decor ideas – you won’t want to miss it!

I wish you all a magical Christmas season and hope you can find some time to just relax and take in all of the beauty that the season has to offer.
