How To Make This DIY Popcorn Teacher Gift

Does your child’s teacher love popcorn? If so, this is the gift to give!

This project comes together with practically just the snap of your fingers (warning, you may even feel a little Mary Poppins-like when you whip this up!). Follow these quick directions!

Supplies needed:

You can sign up for my newsletter below to get the free printable label file. If you are already on my list, don’t worry as you will not be signed up for anything further. Just add your information to get the file sent to your email address!

Step 1: Print Labels

Print as many labels as you need for the number of gifts you’re making. Then, apply each one to the front of any mason jar. I recommend using large mason jars for this, especially if you want to fit ready-to-pop bags inside.

You can print directly on labels that you pre-purchase or follow the optional steps below for using a Cricut machine.

OPTIONAL: Use a Cricut to Print and Cut the Labels.

Open up a new project then upload the image file. Be sure to remove the background when uploading.

Upload as a flat graphic and add to your canvas. Draw a rectangle that is 3.5 x 5 inches for cutting. I made my rectangle white but you can alter the color if you wish.

Resize image to fit rectangle and align in the center. Then pick both the rectangle and the image and click flatten.

Click make and then duplicate the label. With this method, you can only fit two labels per letter sized sheet of printable vinyl

Continue to print the labels on a printer and cut with the Cricut machine. You can then continue with the tutorial.

Step 2: Add Label to Popcorn Bags

I like to add the label to the front of the popcorn bags before I add them to the jar for an additional touch. Just peel away each label and stick to the bags.

Step 3: Fill Jars

Fill your jar with the popcorn and seasonings of your choice. I went with ready-to-pop bags, but you could get creative with bags of loose popcorn and fun seasoning blends!

Then add an additional label to the front of the jar.

Step 4: Decorate the Top

Cut some fabric slightly larger than your jar lid as shown below. I used OlyFun since it does not fray.

Be sure to keep this in mind when choosing the fabric you want to use!

Put the lid on the jar with the fabric sandwiched between the lid and band. At this point you can be done, or you can add a little ribbon or bow if you want!

If you want to add a bow, tie some ribbon into a bow. Then, add the bow to the front of the lid with a little hot glue.

Now, it’s ready to give to your favorite teacher!

This fun teacher appreciation gift idea can be made in just minutes. Plus, it’s perfect for Teacher Appreciation Week, holidays, birthdays, or even the end of the school year, along with a nice card! You can even add a gift card inside the jar with the popcorn.

More Easy DIY Teacher Gifts You Can Make

Teacher Appreciation Week will be here before you know it. While many people wait until that week to show their teachers some love, I like doing it a few times throughout the year! With simple DIY teacher gifts like the ones I’m sharing today, you can easily show your teachers a little love anytime!

This list was carefully chosen because I’ve talked with enough teachers to know that most of them aren’t interested in one more apple sign, mug, or tote bag. Instead, give them something they actually want or can use.

Now, it’s time for some more quick and easy teacher gift ideas. I have a collection of different types of ideas that teachers will love!

  • Teacher Appreciation Gift Cup – It’s true that teachers likely don’t need more mugs, but insulated drinking cups are different! Laura’s Crafty Life will help reduce spills and keep your teacher stay hydrated.
  • Printable Sign With Paper Flowers – Print this free printable from She’s Kinda Crafty and add paper flowers. Customize them to your teacher’s favorite colors for an extra special gift!
  • Thank You For Helping Us Grow Fingerprint Tree – Here’s an adorable idea from Made In A Pinch. Print out the free sheet and paint fingerprints or thumbprints in different shades of green to create a unique tree.
  • Emergency Classroom Kit – Every teacher needs an emergency classroom kit! Grab the free printable tag from Busy Mom’s Helper.
  • Kindergarten Teacher Tote Bag – I know I said that teachers don’t want more tote bags. However, preschool and Kindergarten teachers are the exceptions. Besides, this design from Housewife Eclectic is too adorable!
  • Gift Card Organizer Ring – Teachers love receiving gift cards to their favorite stores and restaurants, but the worst thing is to lose them! Help your teacher never lose another gift card thanks to Mad In Crafts.
  • Gift Card Book – One gift card is great, but 20 gift cards are better, right? Organize a class gift with this adorable gift card book idea from 30 Minute Crafts and make your teacher feel like they’ve won the lottery!
  • Gift Wrap Set – Check out free printable gift wraps from Carla Schauer who even shows you different ways to use them to wrap your teacher gifts quickly.
